For this week’s featured Raleigh zip code, we're starting to journey south - 27609. This area of Raleigh is primarily situated on both sides of I-440 and major roads include Six Forks, Wake Forest, Millbrook and Spring Forest.
Lifestyle Destinations
A big draw in 27609 is, hands down, North Hills (also known as Midtown Raleigh). This outdoor shopping center has it all - restaurants, movie theater, hotels, luxury residential complexes and nearly 100 stores like REI, Anthropologie and Target. North Hills is also a hot entertainment venue that regularly hosts outdoor concert series and even a Farmers Market.
Duke Raleigh Hospital also takes up residence in 27609 along Wake Forest Road and if you travel down a little farther south past the Beltline along Wake Forest, folks will find retail and restaurant favorites such as Trader Joe's, Costco and BurgerFI.
Neighborhoods & Properties
Fan favorite neighborhoods include those surrounding North Hills like Lakemont and Northclift. Older and smaller homes from the 60's populate the quaint streets of Lakemont. Once considered affordable, this neighborhood is now a much sought-after location for buyers looking to take on large-scale renovations that continue to drive prices higher. Northclift, on the other hand, still has the older homes without the steep price tags and offers easy access to Raleigh's Greenway.
An trend that is catching on in both the North Hills and Anderson Heights neighborhoods is the tearing down of existing properties and the new construction of more modern and luxurious homes with prices ranging $600 to $700K and, in some cases, over $1 million.
Sales History
In 2014, a total of 482 homes were sold in 27609. Of that total, 337 were detached homes versus 145 townhomes/condos.
